We are surrounded by panoramic mountains like Kusum Kanguru, Thamserku, Kangtega, Taboche, Cholatse, Makalu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Everest, Changtse, and Pumori. The sight of sunrays kissing Everest which towers over all the surrounding peaks is astounding. We trek through the Ngazumpa Glacier to the mountain on the other side. 13. Day 13 Thagnak to Cho La pass to Dzongla (5,367m/17,609ft 7-8 hrs

Today is going to be one of the toughest days of the trip. The Cho La pass is not itself difficult, but it is steep and involves a glacier traverse on the eastern side. We need to be careful as the trail is vertical and the rocks glazed by ice may cause trouble by making the trail slippery.  The trail from Phedi climbs through a ravine and a rocky trail. While trekking through the side of a frozen lake, we reach at the top of the pass decorated with prayer flags. The pyramidal Ama Dablam presides over a range of mountains on the south even as Cholatse soars to the west and Lobuche East and Baruntse rises sharply to our right. Today is one of the most anticipated days of this trekking journey. The trail to Gorak Shep goes ahead through the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. From Lobuche, you will make your way towards Gorekshep one of the last settlements before the Everest Base Camp. Gorekshep is a very sparsely populated little settlement that was used as the base camp site before the site was moved to its now-original location. From Gorekshep, you will finally hike alongside the Khumbu glacier moraine towards the base camp. Upon reaching the base camp, you can see the glacier as well as the Khumbu Ice Fall. This is the point from where the Everest expedition begins. After spending some time at the base camp of Everest, you will return back to Gorekshep. OR

Since the sunset view from Kala Patthar is more admirable than the sunrise view it is recommended that you visit Kala Patthar today during sunset. As the setting sun’s rays strike the snow-capped mountains, the resulting scenery is incredible. For those trekkers who wish to continue to Kala Patthar, Adventure Sherpa Tracks”s  Sherpa guides coordinate our hike to Kala Patthar for an amazing sunset view during the evening rather than morning however it depends on the weather condition.Overnight in Gorak Shep

  16. Day 16 Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar to Pheriche (5,545m/18,193ft) 7-8 hrs

The hike from Gorekshep to Kalapatthar starts early in the morning. Kalapatthar is one of the best vantage points in the region. It presents panoramic views of the entire Mount Everest massif including other mountains .You can catch the view of the sunrise amidst the Everest peaks from here. The phenomenon is quite ethereal. After taking in the breathtaking views of the Everest and other  peaks, you will have a hike back down to Pheriche village, following the same trail that you used for your ascend. However i f you have done the kalapathher hike for the sunset view you will do Everest Base Camp instead Overnight at Tea house .

Those participants who will visit Everest Base Camp today will have an early breakfast to start early as Everest base camp hike takes longer than the hike at Kala Patthar. After returning to Gorak Shep, both the groups will have lunch together; the afternoon is taken to descend down to Pheriche for a good night’s rest.

  17. Day 17 Pheriche to Namche Bazaar (3,438m/11,280ft) 6-7 hrs

Today we trek down through the hillside blanketed by rhododendron and juniper trees. After crossing the prayer-flag festooned bridge over the Dudh Koshi River, our trail follows the Dudh Koshi gorge descending rapidly through pine forests. In the forest, we may come across colorful pheasants and mountain goats. The path eventually reaches Sansa from where we can enjoy views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Nuptse mountains. We also pass winding trails then through a forest before reaching Namche Bazaar. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

  18. Day 18 Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,800m/9,187ft) 6-7 hrs

The trail back to Lukla from Namche follows the same path as before. It is ornamented with prayer flags, Chortens, Mani walls and Gompas. The gushing of the Dudh Koshi River will once again ring through the air as you cross it over suspension bridges.Although we are travelling the same route down, we have completely different views. After passing couple of suspension bridges and villages we ill reach to Cheplung. Equipment List

The main emphasis while trekking is on keeping warm and dry while still being lightweight. You should bring a rucksack or backpack for the gear required during the day. Your pack should contain items such as warm clothes, a jacket, a camera, water bottles, a personal first aid kit, and snacks. The weight limit is 5kg. A porter will carry the rest of your personal equipment packed in a duffel or kit bag. The weight limit for your duffel bag is 15 kg however it is different in the case of peak climbing and expedition.

A Note on Packing

For your international flights, we recommend that you pack all your equipment in your two duffle bags or suitcase. Do not simply pack your backpack (since the straps can be damaged by the baggage handling machines). It is important to lock these bags for their trip. Depending on the airport, you may be able to put your travel locks on after TSA has searched the bags. If not, Lock the bags with Zip Ties. If the TSA cuts off the zip-tie to search your bag, they will replace it. You will still need the travel locks to lock your bags in the hotel and during the trek. Generally, you will take one duffel on the trek , and leave one in the hotel in Kathmandu with your belongings for your time in the city. Your trek in duffel will only be accessible in the evenings (with items such as changes of clothing, sleeping bag), and your day pack will hold vitals such water, layering, blister kit, and camera.
